Team Build Construction

NCT skills are working with Team Build

NCT Skills Business Development Manager Corey Skeen said: “We’re very excited to be working with Team Build Construction.  They have a reputation for delivering fantastic projects that demand high quality work as a basic requirement and it’s great that some of our learners are being exposed to such expectations at this early stage in their career.“

Gary Davis, Managing Director “Our people really do make us who we are here at Team Build Construction, so we select everyone carefully including apprentices. There are many contributing factors in selection that said we pay special attention to a good attitude, a keenness to learn with a general respect for others and the ability to work in a team.”

“We aim to provide a supportive environment for everyone; however we pay special attention to young people. With our dedicated leaders buddied with our selected Northern Construction Training (NCT) apprentices they are all encouraged to apply their knowledge gained from the past 3 – 9 months on their diploma. We support and develop them through practical, on site ‘real’ work.“

Gary continued “ We do not under estimate how challenging it can be to deliver projects on time and within budget, whilst training and supporting young people. Our team all take on responsibility to ensure the young people understand why they have been selected. We make every effort to make them feel welcome and work hard to harness their capabilities, grow their skills and give them exposure to various aspects of construction.”

“The initial three young people we selected really stood out in the group session Tyler, Billy and Flynn all bricklayers came across very well and are already demonstrating their passion for construction as we allocated them to work at our Seaton Delaval First School site. On this site as well as learning practical techniques of bricklaying they have been exposed to the requirement of installing a gas membrane barrier and will soon see aspects of groundwork’s and landscaping.”

Tyler himself said “ He can’t believe how much he’s learned on the site in only 4 weeks and thanked his dedicated Team Build Construction supervisor for all his support, patience and guidance so far” The others reiterated the same view adding they are enjoying the challenge of working a real site and learning so much, they even offered to work extra because they were enjoying it so much.

Gary also said “Team Build Construction would recommend to other contractors as well as their sub contract supply chain the not for profit community interest company NCT as we share similar values. We have been impressed with the companies programme and the quality of the apprentices to date.”
